Well this post was going to be about the double standard and hypocrisy of the Democratic Party and the media that supports them. But I wanted to touch on something else instead.
My father is a very smart man and I love him dearly. However, he has been taken in by the democrat propaganda for years. He used to be a union man, though around 17 years of loyalty didn't help him when the company he worked for decided to relocate the factory he worked at.
For some reason democrats like my father buy into this old and worn out message that the democrats are for the working class and republicans only care about the rich. The thing that gets lost on them is that nearly EVERY single democrat politician is rich! Not only this, but democrats in power will say and do anything to stay in power. They run on the idea they want to help the working man, but they are not and rarely ever were working men. They are wealthy fat cats that want to stay that way. Sadly, democrats continue to vote them in over and over again and they continue to live in luxury while the working class struggles.
The annual salary of all non leader members of US Congress is $174,000. Leadership like the minority and majority leader or the speaker have an increase in pay. No matter which party you are in, that salary is fantastic and makes you WEALTHY even excluding the number of other benefits these members of congress have such as a provided car, free domestic travel at all times, etc.
Add to this that congress in 2008 (when Democrats controlled both the House & Senate) voted themselves a pay raise as the recession was starting to build up.
What gets missed by my father and other democrats is that though they claim to only care about the working man and they claim republicans only care about the rich, when the democrats are in power, they do not hesitate to build up their own wealth.
And then we look at our military. Our fighting men and women who put their lives on the line and often make the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Their pay is paltry in comparison to those who sit on Capital Hill and argue and discuss new laws and regulations for this country.
What is very appauling is when they play this game that they care about the military more than republicans. About two years or so ago the government came close to shut down over the budget and democrats and the media were shouting that the republicans were blocking military pay. The truth and facts (look them up, they are all over the Internet) is that the republicans tried to push for the military part of the budget to be approved separately while they negotiated the remaining parts of the budget that had many things they opposed. But the democrats made it an all or nothing vote. They basically said either you vote and approve the things you oppose or we will claim you are blocking military pay. And the media ran with it.
Again, if you look at how the democrats work, they want to increase all kinds of spending, while at the same time cutting military spending all the time. How can they claim to support the troops when they constantly vote to cut funding and increases in military pay? How can anyone support a group that votes themselves a $4000/year raise but blocks pay increases to our troops?
But I know what my father and fellow democrats would say "Oh, you are getting this from Rush Limbaugh or Fox News, so because they have opposing views they lie and their information is false". The sad thing is while I do use those sources of information, I use far more. Unlike most who claim to have knowledge of politics, I do a ton of research with many different sources, from neutral to both sides of aisle. And all of this information is available to anyone who wants to learn and understand things for themselves and not just listen to the drivel fed to them by a media that is clearly supportive of one side over the other.
The thing I find funny is when I am told "your information is false because is comes from Rush and Fox" they never realize that same truth would have to be applied to their sources which are the left leaning news stations such as CNN, MSN, CBS and ABC. Their sources are no more inherently truthful or accurate then mine by that standard. So in order to argue, they must be willing to search for the facts from other sources and yet the do not! If they did, they would see much of what they believe to be true and have heard from the media has been spun or outright lied about.
And I am sorry, I know that because Fox has a different opinion and shows the republican side of things, the dems claim it is false. Yet they seem to have no problem when their stations are caught LYING and DISTORTING the truth. When Dan Rather pushed the faked letters that tried to show Bush was lacking in his Air National Guard duties or even as recently as when NBC edited the Treyvon Martin/Zimmerman 911 call to make it look like Zimmerman was racist. These things have led to the firing of these people, yet people still trust those organizations for some reason. Hell CNN was found to have been made aware of Saddam Hussein's rape/torture rooms and documents were found that show they made arrangements with Hussein not to report on them as long as they had first interview and reporting rights in Iraq!!!
The truth of the matter is this, far too many people in this country who vote, do so with little to no knowledge of what or who they are voting for. We have a media that should remain objective and not take any sides, doing just the opposite. In this information age and instant access to things like congressional voting records and transcripts of speeches and debates, there is no reason people should remain so ignorant of what is going on. However, that requires that effort be put forth in learning and researching the truth before voting. Sadly, for far too many, they would rather just buy into whatever the nightly news tells them is the truth. And this is why this country continues to be divided and why many of the American ideals are fading from our lives.
Anyway, this rant is over. If you read this, please comment. I would love to hear what others think.
More to come later!
And as always, may the Lord Jesus Christ bless you!
WCRSM- White Christian Republican Straight Male - How Else Can I Offend You Today?
A thoughtful blog from a white, Christian, replublican, straight male perspective in a world that seems to be increasingly offended by those descriptors. This is my personal view on faith, politics and current events. Remember, while this is my opinion, it is sure to offend some!

Introduction is in order. I am Mike. I am a white, Christian, Republican, male who is straight. In today's society and especially in media, all five of those descriptors make me hugely offensive to a number of people. Let's break it down:
I am white - for a number of years, being white meant you were somehow inherently racist towards other non-whites. Somehow, just being this race meant you hate blacks, hispanics and others and inherently also have every privilege while denying those privileges to other races. And while you supposedly had all these inherent benefits, things like affirmative action and minority benefits (tuitions and the like) sprang up to somehow offset this built in racial advantage the white people have. We will talk about this more later.
I am Christian - despite revisionist history and a growing trend to try to eradicate all Christianity in the public area as much as possible, this country was founded by predominately Christan people with predominate Christian principles. Whatever faith you may call your own (or none for some Loudmouths) Christianity is the dominant faith in this world, with some 2 billion believers of various denominations. The Christian faith has a huge history with more evidence and documentation to support it's claims than any other religion or faith out there. As an Christian Apologetic, I plan to spend a long time on this in future posts.
I am Republican - I am a very proud member of the Republican party. To offset the first couple things people will say, I am not rich or wealthy, and I don't only care about the rich or wealthy. I believe that the Republican party has the best ideals for this country. Fiscal responsibility, personal responsibility, limited government (and limited government intrusion in our live) as well at the old fashioned American Dream are all reasons I, as a middle class person, support and honor this political party. Again, we will delve into this more in later posts.
I am Straight - Today it seems everyone has bought into the gay agenda (or so you would be told). There is an agressive and vocal movement by a small group of people and their supporters to try to push their lifestyle and opinions on people who may not want anything to do with that lifestyle, or simply don't care. This group has tried to claim that their views are the views of the majority and that gay marriage and acceptance is a given which the world supports. The fact that up until as recently as the late 70s this was considered a mental illness and that they claim the whole world is moving towards acceptance when only approximately 10 of the 207 countries (as defined by the UN) in this overly accepting world allow any form of gay marriage is a bit mystifying. This push to have what they claim to be their personal lives and lifestyle, not only tolerated but accepted and approved of has gotten excessive lately. All of the sudden gay issues are in all kinds of TV shows, movies and newspapers. It has even hit what was a relatively innocent children's activity, comic books. And Heaven forbid if you don't actively support this movement, you are suddenly a closed minded, hate filled bigot. Again, this blog will talk about this subject regularly.
I am Male - though it is not the issue it was in the 90s, there are still a bunch of feminists out there who hate men like me, simply because we are men. They have pushed this sexual equality issue for years (since the 60's) and due to this, for some children (and now some adults) the differences between the sexes have blurred. While many bra-burning women claim to be equal to men, they don't want to be treated the same as men. They want to be able to take special time from work for maternity leave, they want the same pay without the same work or effort. And to be clear, this is not all women, in fact, much like the gay movement, it is just a small, very loud mouthed group of people that try to push their views on everyone else. I do think this attempt to make all sexes "equal" has lead to a blurring of sexual identity and may be a part of the growing number who have "sexual identity" issues such as homosexuals and transgender people. Again, this will be talked about in more posts in the future.
So there you have it. I am all five of those things and as I have pointed out, for many in this world, particularly those I so lovingly refer to as Loudmouths, I am a thoroughly offensive person...just for being what I am.
But to be as clear as possible, I don't care! If my faith, my political view and sadly, my gender, race and sexual orientation offend you? Too bad! Though the liberal Loudmouths out there claim to enjoy first amendment rights, it only seems they want those rights for themselves and not outspoken people with differing opinions!
That does it for this first post. If you read this post and want to comment, please do.
My next post will start to look at democratic/media hypocrisy.
Until then, may the Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
